Bangalore, January 24, 2007: IMTEX 2007, the largest exhibition of machine tools and manufacturing solutions in South & South East Asia which concluded here today, generated confirmed business worth around Rs 600 crore and enquiries for around Rs 5,000 crore. The 7 day event, which showcased the technological capabilities and new developments in the machine tool industry from 25 countries, drew over 1,30,000 business visitors from all across India and other parts of the world. Organised by Indian Machine Tool Manufacturers' Association (IMTMA), IMTEX 2007 and its concurrent fair, Tooltech 2007, marked many beginnings which included scheduling the event for the first time in South India (Bangalore) and at the Association's own exhibition facility (Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC) on Tumkur Road). IMTEX henceforth would permanently stay put at Bangalore - the hub of the machine tool industry. A b2c event featuring recent global trends in machine tools and manufacturing solutions, IMTEX 2007 and Tooltech 2007 was the perfect platform to reactivate the industry enthusiasm and reinforce the feel good factor being witnessed within the industry. The exhibition showcased emergence of new technologies such as dry machining, high speed machining, versatile and multi-functional machines, compact machines and machines with smaller footprints, as well as a complete array of manufacturing solutions - in tune with the emerging needs of the Indian manufacturing industry. The exhibition also witnessed an amalgam of delegations: high-level international delegations from Syria, Czech Republic, Korea and Switzerland and domestic CEO-level delegations from the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers, Automotive Component Manufacturers' Association, Defence, Indian Railways and Textile Machineries Manufacturers' Association. Concurrent to the fair, IMTMA scheduled several seminars including a brainstorming session on the importance of R&D in the machine tool sector and the International Machine Tool Forum. The FIE Foundation awards and the CMTI-PMT Trust awards recognized the best creative designers of machine tools and equipment. Commenting on the success of IMTEX 2007, Mr. C. P. Rangachar, President, IMTMA, said, "has been a path-breaker in showcasing the design and innovative skills of the Indian machine tool industry alongside those from elsewhere. The exhibition has clearly displayed technologies and human capabilities in enabling excellence in Indian manufacturing. The presence of a colossal business visitors has made IMTEX a truly-business-oriented exhibition - and now in Bangalore."
Held every three years, IMTEX 2007 is amongst the five largest international shows, globally. In its 38th year, IMTEX has grown over the years into a sought after global event for the entire industry. Tooltech 2007 has a comprehensive display of metalworking machine tools, cutting tools, tooling systems, machine tool accessories, metrology and CAD/CAM. Founded 60 years ago, IMTMA is the apex body of machine tool industry in the country with a membership of around 400 companies from both, the public and private sectors.
